Sony VAIO VGC-V520G TV-PC

All-in-one computer is a living-room PC concealed behind a good-looking 20-inch LCD screen.

The Sony VAIO VGC-V520G TV-PC is a great (though expensive) choice for home users who want to combine a compact computer with a display for playing games and watching TV.

Sony VAIO V520G review

Sony VAIO VGC-V520G The $2,699 Sony VAIO VGC-V520G is a space-age, all-in-one media center that combines a surprising amount of desktop power with a truly glorious wide-screen LCD. Although this media center doesn't run the Windows XP Media Center...

Gorgeous, 20-inch-wide screen; robust DVR and media-center features; fast enough for modern games; built-in Wi-Fi; ideal keyboard for couch computing; lots of software.

Inconveniently placed drives and ports; no HD capabilities; has slot for Sony Memory Stick media only; overly complex Media Center software; you have to burn your own recovery discs; pricey.

You'll have to overlook a few design flaws, but if you can, Sony's new all-in-one media PC will reward you with a beautiful screen and a feature-packed chassis.

Sony VAIO VGC-V520G

Sony's VAIO Zone front end makes the V520G look and feel just like a Sony consumer-electronics device for video, music, photo, and TV playback. It is refreshing, compared with the Windows Media Center clones that seem to be making the rounds. The...

Bright widescreen display. Attention to detail. Great TV tuner. Dual-layer DVD writer. Wireless keyboard with built-in touchpad, wireless mouse, Wi-Fi networking, and IR remote cuts down on wires. Plethora of included software

A little pricey. No HDTV support. Needs TV/volume controls on the PC/TV case bezel

Sony is taking the notion of the all-in-one PC to new levels with the Sony VAIO VGC-V520G. In the spirit of the Apple iMac, the PC components reside behind the 20-inch LCD. But Sony adds a TV tuner and DVR and Digital Photo Gallery software to make a...

Although we found one large and several small problems with the VAIO V520G, we'd still love to have it in our den or dorm room.
