Kundenmeinung (newegg.com)

AMAZING. One of the best external drives ever.

I tested the device in the following scenarios: USB 3.0, USB 3.0 non powered hub, and reformatting the drive with NTFS partion vs a Samsung 850 EVO 1 TB internal drive. With the default exFAT partition, and a direct USB 3.0 connection, I was able to...

- Cost is great - Speed is excellent* (see other) - Small, compact design - Tons of space for all you need - Not mechanical spinning disk so much more durable

A Great External SSD

An excellent drive. The Samsung T3 greatly reduced the time required to backup my MacBook Pro.

- Very small and light weight - Much faster than a hard drive - Supports USB 2.0, USB 3.0, and USB-C - Works great with Apple's FileVault drive encryption - Cross Platform encryption (if you use Samsung's software) - Supports USB Attached SCSI (UASP)...

- Only comes with a USB-C to USB 3.0 adapter cable, to use this drive with a USB-C computer (like the new MacBook) you much purchase a dual-ended USB-C cable.

Fast, Durable, Portable.

Overall, I'd recommend this unit to anyone looking for a small and fast storage device. I tried transferring a large (~70GB) iTunes library to the T3 and measured the sustained average write speed at around 394MB/s. Average sustained read was around...

- It's small and light - Casing is mostly metal - The metal casing also acts like a heatsink, keeping the drive cool - Its port is the newer USB-C type - Includes a USB-C to USB-A cable - Can be password protected with the software preloaded on the...

- It's still fairly expensive - Does not include a USB-C to USB-C cable - Does not include a protective carrying case - The entire casing is not metal. 1/4 of it is a silicone / rubber type material

One Word PHENOMENAL

This is absolute the best portable drive you can possible get on the market today. I achieved a mind boggling 3.5 Gbps transfer rate on this unit? One thing one should keep in mind is that with such amazing performance possibilities, other factors in...

Awesome transfer speeds: High end i7: 3.5 Gbps, or 430MB per second file transfer rate Mobile i5: 1.2 Gbps or 150MB per second file transfer rate Imaging a drive with 80 GB of compressed data < 8 minutes! All in a package smaller than a business...

Not that I can say, maybe a longer shielded USB 3.1 cable?

EggXpert Review - Samsung T3 Portable 500GB SSD

The USB port on the drive itself is the new USB Type C connection. It is nice to see these starting to be used, but since only the newest computers (motherboards, specifically) have any USB Type C connectors at all, the cord adapts to a USB 3.1 port to...

VERY fast USB 3.1 transfer speeds for an external drive. Decent capacity for the price, all packed up in a sleek looking case. It's a Samsung, and they make some of the best SSDs around. I've been using their internal SSDs for about 4 or 5 years now...

The only problem I can see with this external hard drive is that the USB cord you are supplied with it is terribly short. It might be about 1 foot long at most. This can be a real problem for desktops, especially those below the desk, and even more...

Kundenmeinung (newegg.com)

Thoroughly impressed.

- First of all, the disk activity LED is about useless. It's on the same end of the drive as the connection port and that end of the drive will not normally be facing the user. And even if that end is facing you, the LED is so dim that is difficult to...

- Setting up the drive is very simple. When you first plug in the device you will find that there are 3 security files, one each for Windows, Mac or Android, so you can password protect the information that you intend to store. This is another bonus if...

- 3 Year warranty seems to be short for a storage device at this price range.

Wow. This is fast. My new favorite portable drive.

This drive is a lot lighter than I had expected. It also appears to be a revision to the T1 model, providing a new casing and the switch to a USB-C connector. The cable provided is USB-C to USB-A, so it will work on your current legacy USB connectors.

After a month of usage, I am thoroughly impressed. The T3 portable drive is awesome. SAMSUNG makes quality NAND and I expect this to continue providing awesome performance for me. Using Windows 10, I saw read/write top out around 430MB/sec, and...

Awesome External drive

Don't hesitate if you are looking for a solid performing small footprint external drive... this thing is very nice.

Lightweight, Very portable, small compact design, sleek looking external drive. Uses USB 3.1 (C) and can connect to a USB 3.0 port on a PC or alternate device. Since this is an SSD, the read / write transfer speeds are very nice for a USB connected...

The cable is a bit short, so keep that in mind.

Great for expandable storage on small devices, but still not as fast as true SSDs

Overall a good product, but room for improvement. I think the main limitation is still the USB 3.0/3.1 controllers just can't handle the throughput of SSDs, but this may improve over time.

There's a lot to like about this drive, but don't buy it thinking you will get the same performance as your SSD in your laptop, PC or even newer PCIe smartphones. This drive comes close to maxing out USB 3.0 speeds but it is still limited by the USB...

-Not as fast as standard SSDs on PCIe. -May throttle with extended read/writes? -512GB version seems to have lower writes compared to higher capacities even though it is stated as up to 512GB/s -You will need to buy or have a device that has USB C to...

Small and Fast External SSD With Only One Hiccup.

Overall, I do recommend this drive, it is fast, small and light. Easy to travel with and includes encryption to keep your data safe. Get yourself another cable that Samsung should've used in the first place, and this is pretty much a "perfect" drive to...

This device is small and light! It's just a tiny bit wider and taller than a credit card and has very little weight to it. If portability is your main priority, you have just found what you're looking for! Metallic shell gives you the impression it is...

As others have said, the cable is extremely short and is very inconvenient. I'd highly recommend for people interested in this drive to find another USB 3.1 compatible cable that is longer to avoid unneeded frustrations that Samsung bundles with this...
