Sony Z Series Walkman Player

Since it was announced last August, we've anxiously been waiting for Sony's flagship Walkman Z (the first to feature Android) to hit US shores. (It made it here well after the holidays passed. Better late than never, right?) While Sony is billing the Z...

Impressive audio quality ; Tegra 2 provides snappy performance ; Plethora of sound options w/ Sony apps

Hardware chips easily ; Walkman features limited to included apps ; Relatively expensive ; No transfer software for Macs

Despite a few quirks, the Walkman Z is a solid choice for those seeking a PMP running (nearly) vanilla Android.

Sony Z-Series Walkman With Android Review: Hands-on

The Sony Walkman NWZ-Z1060 Android player PMP pairs impressive audio with 4.3 inches of stunning display, but can it take on the popular iPod touch?

Swipe to skip features ; Strong inbuilt audio abilities ; Solid, ergonomic styling

Lack of USB charging ; Rather pricey ; Speaker placement

Far exceeding expectation on all fronts, the Sony Walkman NWZ-Z1060 is an impressive PMP that does a lot to set itself apart from the recent bevy of Android filled devices. With a stunning 4.3-inch display and a UI that does a lot to detract from the...

Sony Walkman Z review

It would seem that both Sony and Samsung are engaging in some kind of historical re-enactment of the great iPod Wars of 2007. That's the only way I have to explain the rash of portable media players I've been seeing recently.

The Walkman Z portable media player emphasizes music as the killer mobile app, integrating Sony's Music Unlimited service, high-quality headphones, and unmatched audio enhancement software.

Considering its premium price, the Walkman Z has limited video support, a thick design, mediocre screen resolution, short battery life, no memory expansion, and no cameras, and is built around a version of Android that's soon to be outdated.

The Walkman Z is Sony's iPod Touch for Android-loving audiophiles.

Sony Walkman Z series: A solid multimedia player with limited storage

Walkman is a familiar name in portable media players, going back several decades. Sony's Walkman Z Series ($210, as of June 1, 2012) is basically an Android phone without the phone, and with a strong emphasis on media playback and gaming.

The Sony Walkman Z Series combines a powerful processor, a good screen, and great audio processing. But if you're prepared to deal with a proprietary connector, a sealed battery, and an absence of expandable storage, you may want to check out the iPod...

Sony Walkman Z Series review

Remember MP3 players? You know, those small electronic devices that old people used to keep their music on? They didn't make phone calls. They didn't play Angry Birds. If they're before ...

Now I know what you’re going to say. Some people don’t like the size of tablets, and want something that can fit right in their pocket. To those individuals, I say grab a Walkman Z and never look back. But if you’re willing to sit back and think about...
