Jenn-Air 30 in. Gas Cooktop with Downdraft Ventilation System

We bought this unit to upgrade our existing Jen-Air Cooktop from an earlier generation.  We are enjoying it however, on reflection, we should have gone with 4 burners like we had with our previous unit.

The surface of the grates deterioate after limited use. The "paint" looks like it has blistered. Doesn't come off, just looks bad. The down draft really only pull on high and is very noisy. In hind site a hood is the only way to go.
