Review: Motorola MotoNav TN765t GPS Unit

When your smartphone is struggling to get a signal, this dedicated device from Motorola chugs along without a hiccup.

Aesthetically pleasing hardware and software. Both loud and clear while operating as a Bluetooth speakerphone. Responsive voice recognition ensures your hands stay at 10 and 2. Reasonably priced (the hardware at least). Supports importing contacts...

Hardly the fastest GPS unit on the block. Only lasts about two hours with continuous use. Includes maps for the United States and Canada only — new maps cost apiece

Motorola MotoNav TN765t

The Motorola MotoNav TN765t features a 5.1-inch touch screen that's shorter and wider than the typical 16:9 or 16:10 ratio device. It also includes an interesting feature: the ability to run Google Local searches, receive free lifetime traffic updates,...

Map-centric interface is easy to use. Detailed map graphics. Brilliant POI search. Free lifetime traffic

Some navigation-related snafus. Slow position lock-in. Google-powered services are only free for three months

Motorola's MotoNav TN765t is a full-featured navigator with an extra-wide screen and a killer interface; but some minor routing issues hold it back from true greatness.

Motorola MotoNav TN765t review

Motorola MotoNav TN765t

The MotoNav TN765t features updated hardware and an innovative new interface that combines the map and the menus. Bluetooth hands-free calling (with address book sync and voice dial), text-to-speech, and free FM-traffic reception are welcome additions...

The MotoExtras data service isn't always on, so it must be manually refreshed for the latest info. GPS tracking in skyscraper-dense urban areas is a bit sketchy.

The MotoNav TN765t has a robust feature set that is on par with that of more-established brands and a beautiful interface that is, in many ways, superior.

Read Motorola MOTONAV TN765t

Motorola has, for the most part, always been known for its mobile communication products.  However, they recently decided to venture into the ever growing GPS navigation market.  Today we will be looking at the MOTONAV TN765t.   As this is Motorola's...

Great at navigating ; MotoExtras ; Free lifetime traffic updates ; Voice commands ; Bluetooth

Spoken street names feature repeats county road names twice ; Price of subscription for MotoExtras ; Call quality not the greatest

Overall I believe the Motorola TN765t is an excellent GPS.   Almost every feature I could think of was present on this GPS, from Bluetooth calling and voice commands to navigate the menus all the way down to traffic updates and up to date fuel prices...

Motorola MotoNav TN765t GPS

The Motorola MotoNav TN765t is a GPS device that is highlighted by a large and wide display. It offers a full set of features that should entice any road traveler, with Bluetooth being just one of many. Let's take a closer look.

As far as the basics go, the TN765t offers your typical text-to-speech functionality, and you will hear actual street names and directions as you drive. This extra level of detail is a plus; you can keep your eyes on the road while driving instead of...

Motorola MOTONAV TN765t review

Hands on with the Motorola MOTONAV TN765t The Motorola Motonav TN765t has a whopping 5.1” display, voice recognition, Bluetooth, lifetime traffic, text-to-speech, lane guidance, and pre-loaded maps of the US and Canada. I'll get into the details of...

5.1” screen ; Voice command ; Lifetime traffic ; Powers on quickly ; Powered mount ; Displays nearby road names

Side panel screens are cumbersome to navigate through; it can take many taps to get to critical information ; ETA not shown on map ; Annoying delay in seeing power options when external power lost ; Speed limit coverage was only displayed on...

I have mixed feelings about the MOTONAV TN765t. It is very close to being an excellent navigator. It is certainly loaded with bells and whistles. Unfortunately it seems like the designers focused too much on creating a fancy interface and lost sight of...

Motorola MotoNav TN765t – with new MotoExras service

Suppose your Personal Navigation Device is itself making a voice call to the server to get the result of a particular search. It is not an imagination, but a truth about Motorola MotoNav TN765t. Last year, the company had launched MotoNav TN30 which...

Free FM-traffic reception; updated hardware; MotoExtras service to get real time data via calling from paired phone; text-to-speech and Bluetooth hands-free calling; innovative interface to show menus while watching maps

GPS tracking works relatively slow in urban areas. MotoExtras service is not always on needs to be manually refreshed for getting latest information

If you need a latest GPS PND in affordable price range that automatically makes a voice call to get information and can work with above drawbacks, then we will recommend you to buy – Motorola MotoNav TN765t.

Kundenmeinung (cnet.com)

"Good, but not great"

It is a good value for the price, works well once the destination is set up.

Navigation, once set up, is great. Display is bright, and colors are distinct. Easy to read. Directions are clear, and having street names announced is a major plus.

Setting up the route requires multiple steps as it is not user friendly. Tip: store all destinations as "favorite". The instruction booklet references a "micro USB wall charger" on page 22. A wall charger is not included nor does Motorola sell one.

Nice device, unless charger cord breaks

I bought this device 6 months ago and initially liked it well enough. Recently the power cord broke (part #SPN5579b) where the pin plugs into the back of the bracket that holds the GPS to the windshield. There is a mini USB port on the device itself,...

Quick routing. Nice screen

Even though it is a larger screen than my old magellan gps, entering addresses is almost impossible to do while driving without hitting the wrong letters
