Velocity Micro Raptor Z95

The Velocity Micro Raptor Z95 is a top-end performer with a DIY-friendly, attractive design, but it's not quite as fast as more expensive dual-card gaming desktops.

Fast gaming performance. Attractive, understated chassis. Easy-to-access interior is upgrade and maintenance friendly.

Lacks the power needed for dependable 4K gaming.

Conclusion The Velocity Micro Raptor Z95 is a powerful, sleek gaming desktop loaded with cutting-edge components. Between the new Core i7 Extreme Edition processor and the GTX 1080, this system is well equipped to run the latest games at high settings,...

Velocity Micro Raptor Z55 review

For anyone looking to keep their virtual-reality obsession on the down low, a gamer-centric desktop such as the massive tank-like Acer Predator G6 or the small-but-bold Falcon Northwest Tiki isn't going to fool anybody. That's why I was pleased to see...

The Raptor has a subtle, discreet black design that fades into the background. It offers excellent high-end performance and a separate front panel for connecting VR headsets.

It's still a little plain-looking for such an expensive PC, and it takes up a ton of space. The front-mounted VR connection panel isn't sturdy enough.

The Velocity Micro Raptor Z55 is a VR-ready desktop with a very conservative look, but excellent performance and plenty of configuration options.

Velocity Micro Raptor Z40 review: It's a lean, clean small-profile gaming machine

There are people who want their gaming PC to embody the fantasy: super-sized case, neon backlighting, strobe lights. Others just want to play and keep the means as far removed from their consciousness as possible. If you fall into the latter category,...

Clean, minimalist design ; Smallish form factor takes little room

Limited to a single graphics card

Starting at a little over a grand in a minimal configuration, this smallish and modestly adorned gaming PC caters to the bling-averse user. Our $1899 test unit was impressively fast, quiet, and well-assembled.

Velocity Micro Raptor Z40

The Velocity Micro Raptor Z40's small form-factor design and solid performance are pluses, though the high price is tough to swallow.

Compact design. Quad-core Intel Core i7 processor and EVGA Nvidia GTX 980 graphics card. Plenty of storage.

Pricey for a midrange system. Limited room for internal expansion.

Conclusion The Velocity Micro Raptor Z40 has a stylish, compact design and very good performance across the board, but the price is high. If you want similar gaming performance, the latest Maingear Vybe, our Editors' Choice midrange gaming desktop does...

Velocity Micro Raptor Z40 review

The Raptor Z40 gives gamers and professionals enough under the hood to handle any task, and doesn't ask for half of your desk in return.

This is a new era where custom PC makers are ready to prove to the world that smaller form factors don’t necessarily have to mean smaller performance. With careful planning and optimal usage of all the available nooks and crannies, as long as you’ve...

Velocity Micro Raptor Signature Edition (Nvidia GeForce GTX 480)

The Velocity Micro Raptor Signature Edition (GeForce GTX 480) gaming desktop gives the well-heeled gamer some options.

Triple graphics card performance. Overclocked six-core processor. Larger solid state drive than predecessor. Lots of I/O ports. Can play ; Crysis ; on very high setting. No bloatware.

Not quite the overall performance leader. Rollers on chassis can be annoying. Doesn't burn Blu-ray discs. No PCIe card expansion room.

Velocity Micro Raptor Signature Edition

The unequivocal gaming champ.

Blazing, best-in-class benchmark test numbers. SSDs improve day-to-day performance. Great bang for the buck.

SSDs are small, necessitating occasional rebuilds.

Velocity Micro Raptor DCX

The Velocity Micro Raptor DCX manages to pack in a lot of technology into its flagship box.

Core 2 Extreme and 10,000-rpm hard drive performance. Windowed case with well-routed cables. Better liquid cooling than with previous VM systems. Nice gaming mouse. Less expensive than some of the competition.

Fan noise present, though not obnoxious. Annoying CrossFire external cable/dongle. Though you get good bang for the buck, the system is still pricey.

Velocity Micro Raptor 64 DualX

The Velocity Micro Raptor 64 DualX is a souped-up machine for serious gaming.

Crazy-fast gaming performance. Smooth game play at Ultra graphics level. Adjustable fan speed. 1TB hard drive. One-year subscription to McAfee VirusScan.

Only one free PCIe slot. Pricey 512MB graphics cards lead to a price of almost $5,000, even without a monitor.
