Acer Predator G1 review

The compact Acer Predator G1 desktop isn't the fastest or most powerful system in our roundup of gaming PCs with Nvidia's new GeForce 1080 graphics cards . It's also not the smallest, nor is it the least expensive or easiest to upgrade. But in testing...

The Acer Predator G1 is a speedy, reasonably priced gaming desktop with a fun sense of design and an optional custom briefcase for on-the-go gaming.

Performance is slower than other similarly equipped gaming desktops; limited ports; requires two bulky external power bricks, and you've got to really like the sci-fi tank tread design.

The Acer Predator G1 isn't the fastest or even smallest VR-ready desktop, but it's powerful enough for new games and VR headsets, and has a sense of fun missing from other gaming PCs.

Acer Predator G1 review

The Predator G1 is a decent machine, but savvy gamers will want more.

The Predator G1’s looks like a serious gaming powerhouse. But dig deeper, and it starts to feel like the G1 is built merely to be “good enough.” The Core i7-6700 is a strong chip, but it doesn’t hold a candle to the unlocked version found almost...

Acer Predator G1 Review: A lot of power in a tiny package

Acer's Predator G1-701-70001 gaming rig is here, arriving after the successful splash the G6 enjoyed . One look at the specification list is all you need to know that this is rig is a beast, but in a world where anyone can throw together...

Clearly, the Predator G1 is a capable gaming rig. We knew it was going to be one going in, so it isn’t shocking to see games like The Witcher 3 and Shadow of Mordor run beautifully on the system. I appreciate what Acer is trying to do with the design,...

Acer Predator G1

Acer has doubled down on its Predator gaming strategy, launching its craziest gaming PC yet. The Predator G1 features top-end kit inside a chassis that has a volume of just 16 litres; you could call it a pint-sized powerhouse. Or, more accurately, a...

Acer Predator G1 Review and Ratings

Its design is polarizing and external power bricks bulky, but with GeForce GTX 1080 graphics and a smart component mix, the compact Predator G1 is powerful enough for 4K gaming, and surprisingly quiet.

4K-capable gaming performance ; Excellent cooling ; Creative case lighting ; Includes good-quality mechanical keyboard and mouse ; Two-year warranty

External power adapters enlarge footprint ; Difficult to upgrade ; Love-it-or-hate-it design ; SSD isn't PCI Express

As the cliche goes, good things come in small packages that look like they were scavenged from a Sherman tank. The Acer Predator G1 mostly lives up to that. It packs an impressive amount of power for an SFF desktop, namely in the form of a Core i7-6700...

Acer Predator G1 Review: Small Gaming Stunner

I almost want to recommend the Predator G1 on looks alone; it's just that attractive. But there are plenty of practical touches to back up the striking looks and awesome lighting effects, including two headphone racks and a front-facing USB Type-C...

Slick, compact design ; Awesome lighting options ; Great gaming performance ; Lots of extra goodies

Limited upgradability ; No cheaper configs available (yet) ; Cumbersome power brick

The Acer Predator G1 packs 4K- and VR-ready gaming performance inside of a stunning and small package.

Acer Predator G1
