The speed issues mean I use it as an offline backup most of the time, but I also don't worry about it- it's rock solid in terms of data security when used properly.

If you are dedicating hundreds or thousands of dollars to make sure your data is safe, you should be able to depend on the company to repair the device!

Outer surface scratches and marrs easily. Otherwise, as good as any of these type of portable USB HDDs.

Great machine. Just what I needed but wish the 2 TB had been in stock as advertised. I went ahead with this one as I needed it fast and could not wait 3 days. I did not want to go to competitor as I have been satisfied with Staples.

I use this as my backup drive with Time Machine (MAC). Great density, quiet and relatively inexpensive.

Works with the DISH Network to save movies, etc. We had several movies on the DVR and were making changes in our programming so we were trading in one box for another. This allowed us to keep all the kids' movies they like to watch again and again.

The Memeo software installed makes it very easy to use but be very careful with the device. One slip from the tabletop to the floor killed the hard drive and I had to buy a new one. If that happens to you be sure to completely remove the Memeo...

Have been usinng Seagate external HD's for years. All my data goes too my oldest one. Bought the new one as backing up data to DVD's is a long and boring chore. Now I just drag and drop what needs backing up and it's so easy and it saves using DVD's...
