Review: Adata S596 Turbo 128Gb SSD

In this review, we'll be taking a look at the Adata S596 Turbo 128Gb SSD, which utilises JMicron's new JMF616 controller. The drive is based on a 2.5 inch form factor and has a total capacity of 128Gb, with 128Mb DDR2 ram cache buffer for increase...

Utilising JMicron's new JMF616 controller, the Adata S596 Turbo leads the performance charts and is currently one of the fastest SSDs on the market. It also comes with some great features including 128Mb of onboard DDR2 ram cache, a built-in mini...

ADATA S596 128GB JMicron JMF612 SSD Review

The ADATA S596 128GB SSD featuring a JMicron JMF612 controller has shown up on our doorstep for a test run. We've seen this controller before in other models and have a good idea what to expect but changes to the firmware could make a significant...

The ADATA S596 is a very capable SSD and one of the better performing JMicron drives we've tested. Having the flexibility of accessing data via the USB 2.0 interface gives it an edge over drives missing this feature.

USB SSD

This makes setting up all the storage of a server so simple and tuck this inside of an hp server on the internal usb port what a great setup!

Great I finally found a SSD drive that supports usb interface. I think these should be used for portability and speed. I don't get why people are using them for windows 7. I install Microsoft HyperV 2K8 R2 on them and virtualize entire servers not...

Not a Con really not sure how long they last backup the hyperv settings keep in workgroup mode or management domain if you can afford one and it doesn't matter if it fails its such an easy replacement. Wish they made this smaller

VM booting

I hope to get at least 3 years of use out of this drive. I didn't need 64GB to host HyperV but I tried serveral other brands mostly 2 corsair and couldn't get them to boot in under 2 hours I think it's something to do with the cell controller.

So I needed a reiliable fast drive with a cell controller to use for hosting HyperV inside an hp ProLiant dl360 g5 server. I setup HyperV on this usb drive and plugged it in to the internal port has been running for over a month now without any...

So fare only used it for a month, I was hoping to find a drive that would be even smaller but can't complain since the price is right 120

Superb performance. No problems

Very fast and reliable drive. I installed this drive over a year ago and it has been a dream, no problems what so ever. I hesitated before buying because of all the mixed reviews with SSD drives in general, but it was a good choice. Getting an SSD is...

It is pretty great for the price but...

While I love their mirco disks for my Nooktablet and phone. I am unsure if I want them as my OS drive again. Maybe it will do me better if it can cache my other storage drives.

It is fast. I am using this as my OS drive, couple work programs and BF3 and Skyrim. I love this SSD and Adata. The bracket is very nice color... to bad I can't use it in my setup. Everything runs at great speed. Great for a OS drive so I don't need to...

While I am going to buy a 125 or 250GB SSD. I make think twice about buying Adata. I have updated, re formatted, restored, changed the BIOS boot for this over 50 times, repaired windows with this drive only connected and changed windows to recognize...

somewhat unreliable.

Bought this specifically because it claimed to be readyboost ready. To my dismay it fails at being readyboost capable.

i bought this as a boot drive for a new build. it installed the OS, and it worked at great until

i went to take it to my room from the office and when i tried to boot, the drive had failed. i reinstalled the OS and its worked fine since
