MLB 2005

If you were a serious baseball gamer last year, you probably couldn't avoid the justified hatred issued towards MLB 2004. Personally, I just couldn't get around some of the control issues and graphical blunders that were rife throughout the title, and...

Overall though, MLB 2005 is much better than last year's title by leaps and bounds, and comes closer than ever to presenting a challenge to EA and other baseball titles. In fact, it's plausible that next year portends 989's title to give MVP baseball a...

MLB 2004

With the start of the baseball season just getting underway, its time to practice your renditions of "Take Me Out To The Ballgame," ready your gloves for homeruns or foul balls, and prepare to stretch during the seventh inning. While fans of the sport...

MLB 2004 is one of those tricky titles that have a lot of fun, interesting features, but the gameplay unfortunately sabotages much of them. The Manager, Farm System, and Career modes offer tons of promising matches to players who are willing to dig...

MLB 2005

The new Major League Baseball season is well underway and this means that a new crop of video game titles based on America's favorite pastime have arrived. For years, 989 Sports has seen an enormous amount of criticism for the vast majority of titles...

Overall though, 989 Sports has done an excellent job with MLB 2005. The title is my personal favorite Baseball title for this year and I definitely recommend you trying this game out with at least a rental.

MLB 2005

The state of ?America?s Game? on the consoles has been in disarray. Two publishers have messed up their franchises (and burned the people buying them) to such an extent they had to change the franchise name, the developer of the best baseball title...

MLB 2005 is a great baseball title for the PS2. 989 are putting a little shine back on the gold glove they earned during the PlayStation era.

MLB 2005

Visual glitches aside (which are a bit inexcusable considering 989's relationship with the hardware) the gameplay is what most people will want to play MLB 2005 for. There are touches in other games on the market that make them better, but considering...

Great online play features ; Graphics are looking like they belong on the PS2 ; Plenty of unlockables and extras in the way of uniforms, stadiums and players ; Career Mode

Some tweaking still needed on the batter/pitcher interface ; Camera works against the player at times

If you're getting a baseball game to primarily play online, this could be the one.

MLB 2005

Forget everything you remember about previous 989 games, MLB 2005 is a brand new bag. Sony has given the team at 989 a bigger team, more time and a bigger budget, and they are making the most of this opportunity. MLB 2005, while far from perfect is a...

The game’s commentary does little to help a game that is somewhat lacking in the personality department. Vin Scully, Dave Campbell, and Matt Vascersian do a fine job of following the action, but the calls are dull and lifeless. Outside of the...

MLB 2005- PS2

There was a time when you knew how things stood in the baseball world. High Heat was dry, but offered the most realism. EA Sports made a pretty game, but it lacked any semblance of realism. 989 offered the worst of both worlds. Will MLB 2005 finally...

MLB 2005

From worst to best in the span of a single year.

MLB 2005 has a wealth of modes to choose from. You have the standard exhibition, HR derby, online, and season modes for your basics. For stat and depth junkies you have two styles of modes to choose from. First mode of play is the Career mode. It is...

MLB 2005 Review

In the battle for control of the great American pastime, James Brightman has a review of Sony's MLB 2005.

MLB 2005 has made me believe in 989 Sports again. If next year's installment can fix all of the problems mentioned earlier, the franchise could truly be on the path to greatness.

MLB 2005 Review for the PS2

Playing it safe.

Deep Franchise mode; Online play; / - Unnecessary features

Dated game mechanics; Awkward batting

Still, there are no minor leagues to send players to or pull players from, though only the hardest of the hardcore will really be bummed out by that. It's also a little hard leaving behind MVP Baseball's innovative Player Happiness Meters. You kind...
