hack//G.U. Vol. 2: Reminisce

It continually amazes me how quickly one's opinion of something can change. Take, for example, the Dot Hack (.hack) series. Nowadays, I must admit I am a bit jaded by it, but that is a far cry from how I started out. In the past, I was simply...

Hours of solid, varied gameplay ; Quality last-gen cutscenes

Story still doesn’t stand well alone ; THAT was Crimson VS

After playing through Reminisce, my opinion of the series hasn't changed. As I’ve said, despite my disappointment with the first game in the G.U. series, I was still interested in the premise of the franchise, and this game did nothing to really alter...

.hack//G.U. Vol.2//Reminisce

Warning:Being a direct sequel, this review may contain spoilers of the previous game, .hack//G.U. Vol.1//Rebirth.

By improving on the first volume in nearly every respect, I offer an improved score to Vol.2//Reminisce. The game gets an 86% from a reviewer who's completed well over one hundred RPGs and still finds much worth in this particular game. The series'...

.hack//G.U. vol.2: REMINISCE

Second volume in trilogy arrives too late and offers little for fans

Excellent character designs ; References to the anime series ; Intriguing premise

Lengthy cutscenes ; Repetitive dungeons ; Stale combat

Lengthy cutscenes, repetitive dungeons, and a general sense that Namco Bandai was drip feeding us one complete game split into three volumes, undermined our enjoyment of .hack//G.U. vol. 1: Rebirth. Over six months have passed since that game released,...

.hack//G.U. vol. 2//Reminisce Revi..

Reminisce feel like Rebirth 1.5, but at least the story is solid..

At the end of this game within a game, Reminisce isn't bad at all - its biggest problems are that it is just too familiar to .hack players and many of The World's areas feel a little too recycled. IF you have never played a .hack game, then Reminisce...

.hack//G.U. Vol 2.//Reminisce

The second installment of the second .hack series is as convoluted and awkward as the game's title. The anime-based single-player MMO-like RPG is an acquired taste, to be sure, but for those who like the unique genre, G.U. is a solid effort.

hack //G.U. Vol. 2: Reminisce

As part of an overall universe, .hack//G.U. Vol 2: Reminisce (henceforth referred to as Reminisce, because that takes entirely too long to write) is more or less a direct continuation of the first game in this second series of games set in the .hack...

Visual style and gameworld are still cool ; The fake MMORPG is never going to stop being a cool idea to me ; Mystery in an RPG is actually refreshing ; Crimson Versus is a fun distraction

Combat is impossible to escape, sort of tedious ; This probably really doesn't need to be spread across three games instead of one

It's so firmly steeped in the style and mythology of the series that fans already know if they'll like it or not. New players ought to start with the original, or at least volume one of the current series.

.hack//G.U. Vol. 2: Reminisce Review

Let's get metaphysical.

Game within a game; Interesting story; No N00bs

Overly talky; Linear; Volume 1 recycled

Do you spend too many hours playing online games? Do you spend more time with raiding buddies you’ve never seen in real life than with your non-virtual friends and family? Have you ever said “LOL” out loud? If so, maybe it's time to take a break from...

.hack//G.U. Vol. 2: Reminisce Review

Series fans, you know what to expect.  Series newcomers, good luck

This score applies to volume 2 as a stand-alone release. It would score significantly higher if considered alongside the other volumes. As is, an entertaining, but altogether incomplete and, at times, incomprehensible adventure.

.hack//G.U. vol.2// Reminisce

The sci-fi action RPG franchise, .hack (pronounced "dot hack"), broke with its own tradition by offering the first standalone version of the series last November -- .hack//G.U. vol.1//Rebirth. This game, unlike the others preceding it, wasn't directly...

This game stands as a good RPG in its own right. Fans of the .hack series will feel quite comfortable in revisiting the world again. But there aren't a great deal of enhancements to the game.

hack//G.U. vol. 2//Reminisce

I go through so many different games a year, that for the most part I don't have trouble playing through and reviewing them. There are only select

I am sure I am going to be receiving a few e-mails from the .hack faithfuls who will say I don’t know what I’m talking about. However I do hold firm that I think this is a great series, one of the most underrated series out there. However I am not one...
