There are plenty of rythm-based games out there. Konami's Dance Dance Revolution games have been the cream that has risen to the top, but many gamers may not even realize that a little game by the name of Beatmania actually paved the way for it....

Eclectic mix of songs, inlcuding tracks from Konami games such as Metal Gear Solid ; Unique gaming approach through the controller

The controller is a bit hard to use later in the game and isn't worth the added cost ; Song list could be a bit longer

Get a better game such as Guitar Hero or Taiko Drum Master.

Beatmania Bundle

Boy, Konami absolutely loves the rhythm genre. When they aren't making you dance your buns off they're forcing you to karaoke like a revolution. For those of you that are infatuated with the genre you have seen games (from other publishers) that use...

Rhythm game fans are a rare breed. They are often more than willing to shell out money for a new mode or some new songs in their beloved franchise. With the success of these games it's no wonder that other series have stepped into the picture....

How to Be a Console DJ: Reviewing beatmania

Always wanted to be a DJ but didn't know quite where to start? We can't guarantee that beatmania will provide you with the skills needed to become an expert on the turntables, but it is a heck of a lot of fun. And at $59 for both the game and the...

great music, graphics, helpful tutorial, muti-player goodness

possible controller awkwardness

Give your first person shooters a rest and stash away that grueling adventure game for a while. beatmania is a fine example of how gaming has grown to become much more than just beating up bad guys and rescuing damsels in distress.

A somewhat cool peripheral bundled with a bland game.

Beatmania offers a two player headtohead mode, 50 songs, and a few modes and variations. To this reviewer, none of it was entertaining for too long and unlike Konami's past efforts, I can't see the replay feature lasting even for the most die hard fans...

beatmania Review

Can you keep up?

Beatmania is a great rhythm game, but it's not intended for a wide audience. I don't think too many gamers will have the patience to get better and enjoy the harder songs. Patient gamers will get a lot out of Beatmania, though, and anyone willing to...

Beatmania Review for the PS2

Turn the beat around.

Cool controller; Lots of modes; Lots of songs; Good videos

With a crappy turntable; Not enough big ones; Otherwise bland graphics; Ain't cheap

One cool feature of Free mode is the ability to replay a saved performance so you can show it off later. Ala Guitar Hero, the better you play a track, the better it sounds. It’s a nice incentive to improve your skills or to go back over completed...

So you wanna be a DJ?

Wide selection of songs ; Freakin' endless replay value ; Great music-video visuals

Screwed-up song difficulties ; Learning the button layout isn't easy ; Playing without official controller sucks

Fans of rhythm-action jukeboxes like Guitar Hero and Dance Dance Revolution, rejoice and prepare to add one more game with a bulky controller to your library. If you've ever wanted to imitate a DJ, Beatmania is the game to make that dream come true.
